Gail Cecchettini Whaley, J.D.

As an HR Director and trainer for CEA, Gail uses her extensive employment law background to provide practical information and guidance for employers. Passionate about the people that bring organizations to life, Gail works hands-on with companies to achieve their organizational and compliance goals.
Gail’s broad experience includes workplace investigations, compliance, employee relations, leaves of absence management, and executive coaching. Gail has conducted countless workplace investigations over her career, ranging from harassment to fraud. She has worked with companies in health, technology, retail, construction and various service industries, including hotels and restaurants. She has also worked extensively with state and local public agencies and non-profit organizations.
Gail is an educated and engaging trainer, with specific emphasis on harassment prevention and fostering a culture of respect in the workplace. With over 20 years of employment litigation and workplace investigation experience, she brings real-life examples to her training.
Prior to joining CEA, Gail Cecchettini Whaley served as the Senior Employment Law Counsel at the California Chamber of Commerce. Early in her career, Gail specialized in labor and employment law, working in California law firms such as Hanson Bridgett, LLP and Nossaman, LLP. Gail uses her legal experience to monitor legislative and litigation developments and provide up-to-date information to CEA membership through HR blogs, newsletters and other publications.
Gail works with CEA members’ everyday on employee relation issues. She enjoys working on site with employers, and often their employees, to provide solutions, conflict resolution, executive coaching and training.
Gail is a California native who attended U.C. Berkeley (B.A., Political Science) and USC Gould School of Law (J.D.). She is a licensed member of the California State Bar.
