The City of Santa Monica has updated its packet of mandatory workplace posters to reflect the following wage increases effective July 1, 2019.
- The minimum wage will reach $15.00 per hour on July 1, 2020. Smaller businesses (less than 25 employees) and qualifying nonprofits have an additional year to comply with the new law.
- The wage for hotels and businesses operating on hotel property is set to match the City of Los Angeles Citywide Hotel Worker Minimum Wage Rate. Santa Monica will post new rates annually by May 1.
- The paid sick leave provision requires Santa Monica employers to provide 40 hours (small businesses) or 72 hours (larger business) of paid sick leave
The packet of posters also includes the city’s paid sick leave notice and service charge law notice. Failure to post these notices subjects employers to penalties.
