Surprise! July Minimum Wage Increases

Many employers were caught off guard about July 1st minimum wage increases.  Gone are the days when employment law changes were made just once during the year, typically on January 1st.  Now employers need to be aware of changes that occur throughout the year.  

On July 1st the Minimum Wage increased in the following cities:

•    Belmont $12.50
•    Emeryville $15.69 with 56+ employees / $15.00 with 55 or fewer employees
•    Long Beach Hotels $14.64
•    Los Angeles (City) $13.25 with 26+ employees / $12.00 with 25 or fewer employees
•    Los Angeles (County) $13.25 with 26+ employees / $12.00 with 25 or fewer employees
•    *Los Angeles Hotels $16.10 w/150 guest rooms or more
•    Malibu $13.25 with 26+ employees / $12.00 with 25 or fewer employees  
•    Milpitas $13.50
•    Pasadena $13.25 with 26+ employees / $12.00 with 25 or fewer employees
•    Redwood City $13.50
•    San Francisco $15.00
•    San Leandro $13.00
•    Santa Monica $13.25 with 26+ employees / $12.00 with 25 or fewer employees
•    *Santa Monica Hotels $16.10
