Violence in the Workplace ? What Every Employer Should Know

Posted by: CEA's HR Advisor Team on Thursday, February 15, 2018

Each year, an average of nearly 2 million American workers report having been a victim of violence at work, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the number of annual workplace homicides at about 400.

The school shooting in Florida yesterday is another reminder that violence exists in homes, in schools and in workplaces across America.  Are you prepared to handle a situation with an active shooter at work?  What will you do if one of your employees threatens to kill himself or another employee?  What will you do if an employee reports that they are being stalked by an ex-spouse?

Employers do not have to be passive about aggression at work!

Join CEA and speaker Dr. Dennis Davis, a nationally recognized expert in the areas of Violence in the Workplace, Professional Interaction, Conflict Resolution, Sexual Harassment and Cultural Diversity for a one hour webinar on April 11th.

In this webinar, Dr. Davis will identify the behaviors which are most likely to escalate to violence and what employers can do to reduce the number and severity of incidents of violence. He will also address the 5 most important elements of a complete violence prevention initiative and the steps to take when an active shooter is in your workplace.
