Thanks to CEA and Craig Strong for being my hero this week!!  I had a former employee who filed a claim against my company with the Department of Labor.  Craig Strong came to meet with me as soon as I had contacted him.  I immediately had confidence in his ability because of his questions during our meeting.  Not only did he contact the deputy Labor Commissioner to get some of my questions answered, but ultimately, he was able to negotiate a reasonable settlement with my former employee.  I appreciate that he took the burden off of me and took responsibility for settling the case while I continued to run my business.   He not only worked expediently, but he was very professional and did a great job of addressing all of my concerns and working with my former employee to settle the claim.  He represented my company well in the negotiation for the settlement and kept me informed throughout the process.

"Prior to our membership with CAE, we were paying high prices to a knowledgeable law firm for periodic answers to our human resources questions. Since we could not afford an annual retainer fee and called at random, we weren't always able to get an answer right away. It wasn't a good feeling to know that we were in a dangerous area of exposure if we weren't sure of legal issues in those immediate situations.

Since our membership with CAE, we have always been able to get same day answers from their knowledgeable bank of staff members, who are backed up by a law firm and CAE pays that retainer fee. During our membership we have realized significant reductions in our costs from employee turnover. In 1997 when we commenced having CAE representatives handle all our unemployment claims we had a UI rate of 3.6%. Our rate has decreased every year and for 2001 our rate is a mere 1.4%.
