Mr. Leporiere began his legal career in 1990 as an associate in the law firm of McNamara, Houston, Dodge, McClure & Ney in Walnut Creek, California. During his time at McNamara, et al., Mr. Leporiere practiced in the area of general insurance defense, with a concentration in complex asbestos litigation and construction defect litigation. In 1993, Mr. Leporiere joined the firm of Hubbert, Shanley & Cohen in Sacramento, California. It was at this time that Mr. Leporiere began his specialization in the areas of management labor and employment law.
From 1993 through the present, Mr. Leporiere has concentrated his practice exclusively in the areas of management labor and employment law. Mr. Leporiere’s practice includes not only litigation of employment related claims, but also preventative counseling of individual employers and groups of employers, preparation of personnel policy manuals, and the negotiation of union contracts.
Mr. Leporiere’s lecture topics have included: “Identifying and Combating Harassment in the Workplace”; “California Wage and Hour Issues”; “Hiring, Discipline and Terminations”; What Employers Need to Know About Employment Policy Manuals”; and “Leaves of Absence In California”. Mr. Leporiere was admitted to the California Bar in 1990, and is admitted to practice throughout California, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California. Mr. Leporiere is a member of the State Bar of California (Litigation and Labor Sections) and the Sacramento County Bar Association (Labor and Employment Law Section).
Mr. Leporiere received his undergraduate degree, with honors, from California State University, Sacramento, in 1987 and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California, Davis in 1990. Mr. Leporiere is a Past-President of the Active 20-30 Club #1 of Sacramento, and is a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Jennifer’s practice at Shaw Valenza LLP includes providing regular advice and counsel on workplace issues to numerous private and public sector employers. Jennifer is an active member of the California State and Sacramento County Bar Associations, and the Society for Human Resource Management (“SHRM”). Jennifer graduated from U.C. Santa Cruz in 1988, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with honors. She received her law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1994, where she graduated magna cum laude and was the editor-in-chief of the law review.

Ms. Seargeant is an associate attorney at Kronick Moskovitz Tiedemann & Girard who practices in the firm’s labor and employment group. Ms. Seargeant represents both public and private sector clients. Ms. Seargeant’s areas of emphasis include defending employers in employment related lawsuits, labor negotiations, contract grievances, arbitrations, wage and hour issues, workplace investigations, responding to employee claims of retaliation, discrimination, harassment and representing employers in unfair labor practice charges.

Prior to and while attending University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, Ms. Seargeant worked for the Sacramento Fire Department, where she climbed the ranks from Firefighter to Fire Captain to Battalion Chief. Over the course of her 12-year career with the Sacramento Fire Department, Ms. Seargeant was a 2-term Regional Fire Academy Drill Instructor, In-Service Training Officer, and a decorated member of FEMA’s Urban Search and Rescue Team and the California Office of Emergency Services’ Water Rescue Team.

Mr. Kappes, head of the Litigation Practice Group in Greenberg Traurig's Sacramento office, is a seasoned litigator with extensive trial and pretrial experience.

Lazaro Salazar is a Solo Practitioner focusing his practice on Plaintiff’s Civil Litigation and Immigration and Nationality Law.
